In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Pivotal Production and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago have teamed up to bring you TEDxWindyCity, where x = independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxWindyCity event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
We have been working relentlessly to develop an engaging series of TEDx events and are elated to announce that the first in our series will take place on February 10, 2010.
Thanks to the amazing support of Flashpoint Academy, we have a technology-rich and ultra cool environment in which to host our first TEDxWindyCity event; one that is right in the heart of the city and will be sure to wow even the tech geekiest among us.
Our theme for February, Creative Convergence, speaks to the creative process and the fusing of art and technology to revolutionize our world. Our speakers are three of the most creative folks around!
Donald Marinelli, Head of the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University
Dawn Hancock, Creative Director and Owner of Firebelly Design
Zach Kaplan, CEO of Inventables
Our Moderator is Dr. Rabiah Mayas, Science Director of the Center for the Advancement of Science Education at the Museum of Science and Industry
Did I mention the amazing performances you will experience by the circuit bending duo of RothMobot?
